General guidelines on physical distancing

All tourism businesses must implement physical distancing measures.

There are many ways that physical distancing guidelines can be enforced and how people can be motivated to adhere to them. Examples include:

  • Providing markings every 1.5 metres wherever people typically queue.
  • Installing physical barriers to prevent guests from getting too close to the reception area or other employees.
  • Installing plexiglass screens at the reception area or cash register points.

It is important to discuss physical distancing measures especially with all employees, who are more exposed to guests. These include the front desk, waiters, room service, cashiers, vendors, and drivers.

Employer and employees should also make changes to how they interact with each other in order to maintain a safe distance.

The following guidelines are mandatory:

  • Follow all guidelines and implement specific physical distancing standards as outlined in the “COVID-19 Tourism Operations Manual for Palestine.”
  • For some activities, there are specific regulations on physical distancing which must be observed.
  • Avoid direct physical contact with other people wherever possible.
  • Ensure a safe distance is kept between people in common areas.
  • Physically separate people by using glass or other barriers where needed.
  • Offer contactless services where possible.
  • Only allow 2 to 4 people in elevators, cable cars and other closed spaces, considering the size of the cabins.
